Saying goodbye to someone is hard,
but letting go of the person we believed they could become,
the person they never chose to be,
is harder.
Walking away is hard,
but walking away from all the potential we once saw,
from everything that could have been
and was instead wasted,
is harder.
Forgiving is hard,
but forgiving someone
who never even asked for forgiveness,
who never offered an apology,
is harder.
Moving forward is hard,
but moving forward while carrying resentment
like a weight from the past
is harder.
Finding balance is hard,
but keeping it while the past
keeps pulling you backward
is harder.
Making a decision is hard,
but living between staying and leaving,
taking one step forward
only to take another one back,
is harder.
And maybe, all this time,
All we were waiting for was an apology.
But when the main character of your story
refuses to give you one,
when the care you gave so freely
is taken for granted,
you eventually understand
that you cannot keep rereading the same pages
and hope for a different ending.
Sometimes, closure is not something
another person gives you.
Sometimes, you close the book yourself.
And begin again—
with a blank page.
